Final conference for the Model Program "FÖRMIG - Förderung von Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Migrationshintergrund"
June 11-13, 2009 at the University of Hamburg

August 2009 will mark the end of the five-year pilot program "FÖRMIG- Förderung von Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Migrationshintergrund" in which 10 Bundeslaender participated. The conference will provide information on key products and results from the program:

  • Spoke diagnostic approaches to measurement and process monitoring of bilingual education and language skills;
  • Policies for the promotion of linguistic skills education in multilingual constellations;
  • Development of local language education and regional networks;
  • Qualification for teaching staff to promote education and German language skills as a second language.

Member in the jury for the Carl Bertelsmann Award 2008 ''All Kids are VIPs - Integration requires fair educational opportunities''

The Carl Bertelsmann Prize 2008 aims to honor exemplary work under their biographical education category which enables the individual development of children with migrant origin. The 2008 Carl Bertelsmann Prize of  Euro 150,000 goes to Canada. Awarded is the Toronto District School Board, being Canada?s largest city with the highest percentage of immigrants.
